Riding habit

This early 1850s corset was designed for the character Dorcas from the 1954 movie musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The corset is created from coutil and cotton sateen and features a metal busk and metal eyelets. The steel boning, of which there is both flat and spiral boning, is encased in lap and fell seams.

The corset is machine sewn and hand finished with a bias strip made from cotton sateen. The corset is embellished with light blue flossing and a cotton lace detail with interwoven blue cotton ribbon .
